CATIA Designer – Automotive Lighting Products

The CATIA Designer will create and modify 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD surfaces for automotive lighting components, ensuring dimensional accuracy, surface quality and compliance with customer design standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D engineering drawings for automotive lighting products using CATIA.

• Develop and modify 3D models and surfaces for headlamps, tail lamps, DRLs, fog lamps and interior lighting.

• Perform surfacing for lamp housings, lenses, bezels, reflectors and related components.

• Generate detailed 2D drawings from 3D models with dimensions, tolerances, sections and annotations.

• Perform surface development, trimming, joining and healing as required.

• Interpret customer requirements, engineering drawings and design specifications.

• Implement design changes based on packaging, styling, tooling and manufacturing requirements.

• Coordinate with styling, design, tooling, product engineering and cross-functional teams.

• Maintain dimensional accuracy, surface quality and CAD standards.

• Manage engineering changes and drawing/model revisions.

• Deliver CAD models and drawings within agreed quality standards and timelines.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma, B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering or a related discipline.

• Approximately 4 years of hands-on CATIA V5/V6 experience.

• Strong proficiency in 2D drawing creation and detailing.

• Practical experience in 3D surfacing for automotive lighting products.

• Working knowledge of CATIA Generative Shape Design (GSD) and Part Design.

• Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional tolerances and design intent.

• Knowledge of plastic components, product packaging and automotive manufacturing requirements.

• Ability to interpret 2D drawings and develop accurate 3D CAD models.

• Good communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with headlamps, tail lamps, DRLs, bezels, lenses or similar lighting components.

• Experience working on automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier projects.
