Compliance Officer – Manager Level

An organization in Sri Lanka's banking and capital markets sector is seeking an experienced and ethical Compliance Officer – Manager Level to lead the independent compliance function of a licensed Primary Dealer.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the independent compliance function and maintain policies and procedures in line with Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Directions.

• Liaise with CBSL, SEC, CSE, and FIU on regulatory matters, examinations, approvals, and statutory reporting.

• Monitor regulatory compliance, prudential requirements, market conduct, and conflicts of interest.

• Oversee corporate governance, Board compliance, and related-party transactions.

• Implement risk-based compliance monitoring and ensure timely closure of regulatory findings.

• Manage AML/CFT programmes, including KYC/CDD, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and suspicious transaction reporting (STR).

• Promote compliance awareness through staff training and education.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Law, Finance, or Accounting, together with a professional qualification such as CIMA, CA, or ACCA.

• Minimum 7 years of compliance experience, preferably in banking, primary dealing, or capital markets.

• At least 3 years of experience in a senior compliance role.

• Strong knowledge of CBSL Primary Dealer Directions, corporate governance, and AML/CFT requirements under the FTRA.

• Proven experience dealing with CBSL, SEC, CSE, and FIU.

• High integrity, independence, strong communication skills, and confidence engaging with the Board.
