German Operations Manager

An organization is seeking an experienced German Operations Manager to oversee and scale operational activities for German-speaking markets, particularly Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). The role involves leading teams, improving workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance and enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership and Execution

• Standardize SOPs and operational level agreements (OLAs) for German market requirements.

• Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to eliminate bottlenecks and optimize workflows.

• Improve operational efficiency, service delivery and processing performance.

2. Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, mentor and develop operations specialists and team leaders.

• Manage recruitment, performance evaluations and employee retention.

• Align team management practices with applicable German employment standards.

3. Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Support compliance with GDPR, relevant German and EU labor regulations, health and safety standards, and regional requirements.

• Maintain quality assurance standards and reduce operational errors.

• Monitor compliance and operational performance.

4. Vendor and Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary operational contact for key vendors in the DACH region.

• Negotiate contracts and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs).

• Coordinate with global leadership and regional stakeholders.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or a related field; a master's degree or MBA is preferred.

• At least 5 years of operations management experience.

• At least 3 years of team management experience within or focused on the German market.

• German proficiency at C2 or native level.

• English proficiency at C1/C2 level, both written and spoken.

• In-depth knowledge of German business culture, GDPR, labor regulations and consumer expectations.

• Proficiency in operational analytics tools such as Excel and Jira.

• Experience in technology, e-commerce or logistics is an advantage.

• SLA compliance and operational processing efficiency.

• Quality assurance, customer satisfaction (CSAT) and error reduction.

• Team retention, satisfaction and engagement.
