Kottappuram Boat Race

The Kottappuram Boat Race returns in all its historic grandeur on October 2, 2026, at Kottappuram in the Thrissur district of Kerala. Originally run by the State Tourism Department for over two decades, this highly anticipated water carnival has found its second wind and is officially organized as part of the high-octane Champions Boat League (CBL). Adding to the magic of the event, the race tracks through the scenic backwaters surrounding the Muziris Heritage Project area, offering spectators a brilliant mix of competitive athletic rowing and ancient regional history. It serves as a true visual spectacle, bringing massive snake boats, roaring crowds, and vibrant coastal culture to central Kerala.
