The state-wide Navarathri Festival is scheduled from October 11 to October 21, 2026, offering a vibrant, multi-layered glimpse into the cultural ethos of Kerala. Dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Shakti, the celebration takes a distinct educational and vocational turn during its final three days. Devotees observe Ayudha Pooja by placing books and professional tools in shrines for blessings, while the final day of Vijayadashami transforms the state into a massive hub for Vidyarambham—a ritual where thousands of young children are lovingly initiated into the world of letters by writing in platters of rice or sand. A key historic highlight of the festival is the magnificent inter-state grand cultural procession, where ancient idols are brought down under royal custody from the Padmanabhapuram Palace all the way into Thiruvananthapuram fort gates amid immense fanfare.
