Known as the “Land of Festivals,” Nagaland hosts a vibrant calendar of cultural and community celebrations throughout the year. The events offer opportunities to experience the traditions, music, crafts, food and distinctive cultural heritage of the state’s diverse tribal communities.
A major highlight is the Hornbill Festival, scheduled from 1–10 December 2026 at Kisama, Kohima. Organised as a tourism promotional event by the State Government, it showcases Nagaland’s traditional cultural heritage and diversity.
Other events include the People’s Festival Khezhakeno, also scheduled for 1–10 December, and the Kapamodzü and Zhavame Village experience on 3–4 December 2026. These events connect visitors with village life, local landscapes and community traditions.
Nagaland’s wider festival calendar features celebrations belonging to communities such as the Angami, Ao, Konyak, Lotha, Sumi, Rengma, Sangtam and other Naga tribes. Together, these festivals provide a window into the state’s living traditions, seasonal celebrations and strong sense of community.
