Parumala Perunnal

The highly revered annual festival of Parumala Perunnal is scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 2, 2026, at the historic Parumala Church in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. This major weeklong religious event marks the death anniversary of Bishop Mar Gregorios Metropolitan, the first canonized saint of the Malankara Orthodox Church, whose mortal remains are interred inside the shrine. Beginning with a ceremonial flag-hoisting ritual, the church serves as a global focal point for special seminars, spiritual retreats, and the solemn Holy Qurbana mass. The festival reaches its grand climax on November 2nd, drawing thousands of foot pilgrims and devotees from diverse cultural backgrounds who walk for kilometers to join the vibrant, colorful town processions in a beautiful display of communal harmony and deep faith.
