Ruuh-Bakhsh

Ruuh-Bakhsh is a live musical performance presented by the Kolkata Centre for Creativity as part of AMI Arts Festival 2026. The performance brings together three distinct musical practices through an exploration of Bengal’s living folk and mystical traditions.

The ensemble features Tajdar Junaid, Satyaki Banerjee and Rabi Mondal, combining Baul songs, Bengali mystical poetry and contemporary sound. Instruments including the dotara, khamak, rabab, oud and folk percussion create a soundscape where traditional forms meet contemporary musical expression.

The performance approaches folk music as a living and evolving practice, allowing inherited traditions to interact with new sounds and experiences. Rabi Mondal brings his grounding in the Baul tradition, Satyaki Banerjee draws from classical and folk music, while Tajdar Junaid contributes his experience in film composition and contemporary sound.
